A Month In

Well Hello there again.

Now where did we leave off, oh yeah, last saturday.

Very good day we ended up partaking in some basketball in town with the other interns and my mentor Elliot whom some of you probably know from chapelstreet or before. Crazy to think ive already been here for a month. Actually starting to get into a good routine with sleep and classes, facilitating, church, etc. Settling in even more realizing that this is going to be my home for a year (dang). Sad though because cordada (the other interns) is almost over in 2/3 weeks and then im going to be all alone for the rest of my time here. They have helped me grow a lot in my spanish, faith, cooking, cleaning, washing clothes, etc. All the fun adulting things you get to do when you grow up and live on your own.

Next up is Sunday. I think they do a great job on sundays here. I have been learning a lot about sabbath and how important it actually is and how God calls us to rest in it through the book I have been reading. We go to church here come back and eat lunch and then we spend 2 hours in nature just you and God. I have mentioned this before its called descalzo time here. Just you and him, seeking him out, and him seeking you through the immense love he has for you. Whatever you need in that time just you and him and his beautiful creation. I have found a lot of joy in my time in descalzo time here. I never realized the importance of resting like God calls us to do. I encourage you guys this week to find a day whether its Sunday or not to take a day to rest. Even if you cant for the whole day just a couple hours. No devices or distractions. Resting, taking time away from all the hurry and distractions our life gets filled with. God calls us to calm down, slow everything, and breathe in his love for us. Take time to thank him for everything you have and all the things we take for granted, his beautiful works and creation, all the joyful and good he has done in your life. You can thank me later its been a blessing to think about it all. I have so much in my life in grateful for. Even God rested, goes to show you if you arent doing a little resting from the busyness in your life we are doing something wrong (me included trust me). But this has also been a time where I have been reading my book in which I mentioned before. I have been really enjoying this actually. It has completely thrown my mind on its head in reference to how we should be following Jesus. He calls us to work and train to become like him not just do all the surface level things. While going to church every sunday, reading your bible in the morning, praying anytime you get the chance to is so good its not all of it. God is love he calls us to be more loving and enjoy the things of life he has given us. Some questions to ask; Are the people around you seeing you as more loving? Patient? Do your friends and loved ones always see the joy in you? Some things ive been thinking about. Always trying to have a better mindset wrapped around Gods enormous love for us will ultimately make us love more like he does (which is something we cant even comprehend btw if you didnt know, Jesus loves you more than you could know). But anyways if you could take anything I would hope it would be to slow down at least once a week God wants to hear from you, he wants a relationship from you, he loves you so much. Run away from the distraction and hurry every once in a while. Dont waste your life on things that arent worth it. God calls us to find rest not only in him, but spend time with friends and family. Go get coffee with a friend, a meal with family, go do a fun activity, away from work and busy schedules. Take time to rest. You are not going to be shamed for taking time to slow down. In fact God wants you too.

Anways i just care about you guys and Jesus loves you I hope you know. Now onto the week. Monday was honestly the really only chill day this week was crazy. Not like crazy like oh my gosh sooo nuts because I loved it so much. Had my class about the book got to talk to tyler more about how this book is affecting my walk and I really want to keep growing. I find the more time I spend with God and the more time I spend in the word, praying, etc, I love it more and more. I used to feel like it was a chore checking something off of a list but now I love the bible reading it and praying to him. Obviously im not perfect but im trying to get better and thats what Jesus cares about your willingness to change to be more loving, etc.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, were all days of facilitating. For those who dont know we have been getting schools from quito that come in and we help them with team building, working together, and just growing in friendship, through different games and activities that us interns lead. Its really fun and I just love the kids in general so it makes it more fun for me. The activities are so fun and it just makes for a good time of community and laughs and all the good stuff. Since Im from the united states I have gone by many names from the kids. Here are a few: Gringo that can dance( didnt know i had moves cause im white but then they saw my true potential, if you didnt know either, now you know my hidden talent), Just gringo/gringito, profe gringo, if you couldnt tell by now obviously im white and not from here. It has been truly joyfilling though to spend time with these kids. Its so cute to make friendships with them and see that they remember things and actually care. Many of the kids always ask for a selfie with me, dap me up, give me hugs goodbye, teach me new slang or words I didnt know, and then i teach them some english things. Its been a really fun experience and I just love kids. A lot of the boys like talking about girls too (obviously) so they like hearing about my wonderful girlfriend a lot (thanks Kenz). All in all, Jesus loves the kids and so do I.

Friday was our day off, so we really didnt do a whole lot just hanging out and chilling. We needed that after all the days of craziness. Saturday we were supposed to have another group come but that fell through which is very sad. But its ok because we were able to learn more about different knots and things for climbing and learning to descend from walls and rock climbing, etc. Then me and one of the staff members taught the ecuadorian interns how to play kick ball which is definitely a highlight of my trip so far so that was so fun. Even though we lost 24-25:(

Well another good week thanks for tuning in again for those who be keeping up with me miss and love you all very much❤️❤️
